Ji-NET aims to raise revenue to fivefold
Jasmine Internet, a subsidiary of the Jasmine International Group, aims to boost its revenue to one billion baht within the next three years from 200 million baht this year.
The Internet service provider is seeking to be among the top three players in the three-billion-baht local market by 2006.
Ji-NET's revenue for the first six months of this year exceeded 100 million baht, compared with 45 million baht for the whole last year.
General manager Paisan Kaweyanun said the company projected revenue of 300-500 million baht next year, driven by the government's low-cost computer project aiming to promote the use of Internet and e-mail.
Also, a more extensive focus on the fast-growing corporate segment, which currently accounts for 60% of the company's total revenue, is expected to increase revenue even further.
"Our business has been growing significantly by around 30-40% every year, and is expected to grow by 50% next year," Mr. Paisan said.
Ji-NET now has a share of around10% in the Internet service provider market. "We aim to grab a market share of between 30-40% sometime in the next three years when our revenue reaches on billion baht," he said.
To meet the goal, Ji-NET is widening its corporate-user profile, emphasising small and medium-sized enterprises.
Mr. Paisan said Ji-NET would no longer compete on price and instead would offer more customised products with added value and high quality.
The company plans to spend 10 million baht next year to increase its international band with and speed capacity from 45 megabits per second at present.
Ji-NET hopes to turn 10 million baht in profit this year, compared with four million last year, a marked improvement from accumulated losses of 50 million baht over the past few years.
