Published: 18/06/2009 at 03:44 PM The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology will request a 400 million baht budget from the government to set up community ICT centres in all districts across the country.

Permanent secretary Sue Lor-uthai said on Thursday the money would come from the government’s budget for its second round stimulus measures.

It was proposed that community ICT centres would be set up in 800 districts nationwide with the aim of assisting people in the provinces to easily access digital-based information.

The community ICT centere would also act as centre for education for people at all ages, irregardless of their gender, Mr Sue said.

If approved, his ministry would ask agencies and state-owned firms under its supervision, such as TOT Plc and the Office of the National Telecommunications Commission, to join in pressing ahead with this project.
